R1 – Addition

R1 Addition in Wave Numbers math is straightforward. Opposite Values with Opposite Signs cancel each other out through interference.  It is commutative and associative. See examples below:

Examples of R1 Addition

• 1^{^} + 0 = 1^{^}  
• 1^v + 0 = 1^v         
• 1^{^} + 1^v  = 0                        
• 1^v + 1^{^}  = 0                       
  • This shows that addition is commutative

• 0 + 0 = 0                    
  • Note that 0 is neither ^{^} nor ^v

• 4^{^} + 6^{^}  = 10^{^}     
• 4^{^} + 6^{^} + 3^v  = 7^{^}
• 4^v + 6^{^} + 3^v  = 1^v
• (4^v+ 6^{^}) + 3^v = 1^v
• 4^v+ (6^{^} + 3^v) = 1^v
  • This shows that addition is associative
